The South Americans opened their account in just the third minute through a Kevin Mendez volley and went on to dominate the contest at Ras Al-Khaimah.
They were up 2-0 at the break and went on to have 28 shots at goal, while New Zealand had just five.
Leandro Otormin and Franco Acosta both found the net twice, before Facundo Ospitaleche headed home to make it 6-0 in the 75th minute.
Franco Pizzichillo rounded off the scoring two minutes from time.
New Zealand's next pool match is against Italy on Monday morning (NZT).
Italy opened their programme with a 1-0 win over the Ivory Coast.
